About

About Fatawa SA

An independent, read-only index that brings together fatawa already published online by South African Darul Iftas, so they can be searched and compared in one place.

What this is — and isn’t

Fatawa SA collects the question, answer, references and signatories of each published fatwa and links every one back to the page it came from (“View original”). It does not issue rulings, edit answers, accept questions, or host comments. The wording, authority and copyright of every fatwa remain with the issuing institution.

Disclaimer. A fatwa answers a specific question in specific circumstances. Do not apply a ruling to your own situation without consulting a qualified mufti — ideally at the Darul Ifta that issued it. Each Darul Ifta profile links to its own question page.

Coverage

Notes on the data

Please note

  • This is an archive of fatawa already published online. Not every fatwa from every Darul Ifta is here, and coverage depends on what each website makes available.
  • Some fatawa are old. Circumstances, products and prices change, and a Darul Ifta may have updated its view since.
  • Some fatawa were translated, and translations vary in wording and accuracy. Check the original where it matters.
  • Ask AI only summarises fatawa in this archive, and AI can make mistakes. Always read the fatawa it cites.
  • Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
  • For your own situation, ask a Mufti, ideally at the Darul Ifta that issued the fatwa.

Contact

Spotted a mistake, a broken link or a missing fatwa? Have a complaint or a suggestion? Email fatawasa786@gmail.com (Contact / Suggest a correction). Every fatwa page also has a “Report an issue” link that fills in the fatwa’s title and address for you, and every Ask AI answer has “Report a mistake”. This email address is the only way to contact Fatawa SA. We don’t issue rulings — for your own situation, please ask a Mufti.

Install the app

Fatawa SA works like an app: add it to your home screen for a full-screen reader that opens fast and keeps your saved fatawa available offline. On Android and desktop Chrome or Edge use the button below (or the browser menu → Install app); on iPhone and iPad tap Share → Add to Home Screen in Safari.
