Question
The question text was not published separately; the title stands in for it.
My grandfather and mother are dead, my mum tells me to read the Quran for them, is this allowed? If not why?
Answer
As Muslims, we believe in Isaal-e-Sawaab (sending reward) for the deceased by performing virtuous acts, for example, reciting Qur'aan, giving charity, etc.
The deceased benefits from the rewards sent to them.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
