Software progemer and IT probelm...I actually dont know what project they r going to put me

Question

AsSalamunalikum I am a Software Engineer. I got a job in a big company which is into pure Software Development and makes software for Telecom,Finance,Health, Travle and Tourism ect. some clients are Telecom industry, Hospitals and banks ect. Company has various branches which develop different softwares. I am selected for the Finance dept which includes software development for Banking, Security, Insurance ect. I am not involved directly with these as these r only clients to r company and will be involved in making softwares relating to finance. I actually dont know what project they r going to put me . is this permissible

Answer

The development of software specifically for the banking and insurance industries is not permissible as this would entail assisting them in riba-related activities.

We suggest you appeal to your superiors to transfer you to a department that programmes software for non-Haraam related activities.
