Question
i was readin a book written by the people of "barelwee" and in that book it said that da ulema issued a fatwa of kufr for hazrat gangohi and hazrat qasim nanotwi and hazrat ashraf ali thanvi..is this true?..what happened?
Answer
It is a well known fact that the leader of the Bareilwi group, Moulana Ahmad Raza Khan and the Ulama of Deoband had serious fundamental differences. Moulana Ahmad Raza Khan did not hesitate to declare people having differences with him as Kaafirs.
The attitude of the Ulama-e-Haqq was one of caution. Rasulullah [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam] advised that we should be careful in declaring Kufr against anyone.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
