Please tell me that how many extra takbirs are performed during the Eid Prayer, also tell that is there any difference of Eid-ul-Fitre and Eid-ul-Zuha prayers.

Question

I had to perform my Eid prayer somewhere else this year, where I found that they performed 7 TAKBIRs in the first rakaat and 5 in the second which was odd to me. Previously I have been saying my prayers where 3 extra TAKBIRs in the first rakaat and 3 in the second being performed. Please describe the right way of performing Eid Prayers.

Answer

According to the Hanafi Madhab, there are 6 extra Takbirs in Eid Salaat, three in the first Rakaat and three in the second Rakaat. According to the Shaaf'ee Madhab, there are twelve extra Takbirs in Eid Salaat, 7 in the first and 5 in the second.
