Question

Is it fard to read Sanaa in Salah?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is Sunnah to read Sanaa in the beginning of Salah whether it is a fard, wajib, sunnah or nafl Salah.[1]

(1) سُبْحَانَك اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِك وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُك وَتَعَالَى جَدُّك وَلَا إلَهَ غَيْرُك، وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ أَنَّهُ سُنَّةٌ لِرِوَايَةِ الْجَمَاعَةِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُهُ إذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ، أَطْلَقَهُ فَأَفَادَ أَنَّهُ يَأْتِي بِهِ كُلُّ مُصَلٍّ إمَامًا كَانَ أَوْ مَأْمُومًا أَوْ مُنْفَرِدًا (البحر الرائق شرح كنز الدقائق ومنحة الخالق وتكملة الطوري (1/ 327)

(2) ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ وَلَا إلَهَ غَيْرُكَ كَذَا فِي الْهِدَايَةِ إمَامًا كَانَ أَوْ مُقْتَدِيًا أَوْ مُنْفَرِدًا.(الفتاوى الهندية (1/ 73)

(3) كَذَا فِي التَّتَارْخَانِيَّة(الفتاوى الهندية (1/ 73)

(4) (وَقَرَأَ) كَمَا كَبَّرَ (سُبْحَانَك اللَّهُمَّ تَارِكًا) وَجَلَّ ثَنَاؤُك إلَّا فِي الْجِنَازَةِ (الدر المختار وحاشية ابن عابدين (رد المحتار) (1/ 488)
