Question

I Kept Niya to Give a certain percentage form the profit for sadakah if a business deal worked out. A person has to give me some money and he has not returned it as yet. can say it is Hallal and deduct the ammount form that Sadaka Money ?

Answer

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If the business transaction in reference turned out to be successful, then it is necessary for you to fulfil your nadhr (vow) in giving sadaqah.[1] Your vow will not be fulfilled if you deduct the intended amount of sadaqah from the debt.[2]

You should fulfil the nadhr in the method in which you have initially promised yourself.
