What is the shares of a wife, male and female children?

Question

With regard to inheritance and after death of a father. What is the shares of a wife, male and female children?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The Darul Iftaa bears no responsibility to any party who may or may not act on this answer and is being hereby exempted from loss or damage howsoever caused.

The deceased was survived by the following heirs:

Wife

Son

Daughter

You did not specify the number of sons and daughters the deceased has left. As a principle, the wife will get 1/8 and the son and the daughter will receive the remaining shares of the estate at the ratio of 1:2 (1 share for the daughters and 2 shares for the sons).
