Qurbaani and sadaqatul fitr of a person who has nisaab but not in his possession
Question
A person possesses more than the Nisaab for qurbani/sadaqatul fitr. However, he loans that money out such that he no longer has the Nisaab in hand. Will qurbani be was wajib on him?
Answer
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
If one owns the nisaab of Qurbaani or Sadaqatul Fitr and borrows the amount to someone, he still owns the nisaab. He has the right of claim on the money. Hence, Qurbaani and Sadaqatul Fitr will be wajib on him[i].
