Assalam 'alaikum,
On the 1st of January, 2017, Mufti Ebrahim Desai saheb posted the following Fatwa#: 37487:
Since then, we have received mixed news of Maulana Sa'ad saheb retracting his comments and clarifying his position. Could you please give us a current update on this situation? Have the Ulema of Deoband and South Africa received any clarification in this matter from Maulana Sa'ad?

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Unfortunately, we have not received any statement regarding Moulana Sa’ad Saheb retracting his comments and clarifying his position.
