Splashing During Istinja

Question

Asalaamualaikum, I had a question regarding taharah. I know that if a drop of najas falls into a small body of water that body of water is considered impure even if not apparent. After I go to the bathroom( number 1), I flush the toilet after standing up and then sit back down and use water to clean myself in the front area as well as the back (superficially) in case of any splashing. However, sometimes I feel water splashes on me during this time as well. Is this water considered najas ? Or is my istinja done incorrectly ? Would it be sufficient to just clean the front area ? Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

When washing oneself during istinja, pour the water slowly to avoid splashes.[1]

You may also wash your back area as a matter of precaution.

٦٠٥٢ - حدثنا يحيى، حدثنا وكيع، عن الأعمش، قال: سمعت مجاهدا، يحدث، عن طاوس، عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما، قال: مر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على قبرين، فقال: " إنهما ليعذبان، وما يعذبان في كبير، أما هذا: فكان لا يستتر من بوله، وأما هذا: فكان يمشي بالنميمة " ثم دعا بعسيب رطب فشقه باثنين، فغرس على هذا واحدا، وعلى هذا واحدا، ثم قال: «لعله يخفف عنهما ما لم ييبسا»

"وعفي رشاش بول" ولو مغلظا "كرؤوس الإبر" ولو محل إدخال الخيط للضرورة وإن امتلأ منه الثوب والبدن ولا يجب غسله لو أصابه ماء كثير

ورشاش البول كرؤوس الإبر عفو(٢).

(٢) سواء على الثوب أو البدن وإن كان أكثر من قدر الدرهم، فإنه معفوٌ ضرورة وإن امتلأ الثوب؛ لأنه لا يستطاع الامتناع عنه فسقط حكمه. وعن أبي يوسف - رضي الله عنه - يجب غسله؛ لأنه نجس حقيقة. ينظر: تبيين الحقائق ١/٧٥، والوقاية ص١٣٢، والهدية ص٤٩.

يستحب أن يتجنب الأمكنة الصلبة حتى لا يصيبه رشاش البول وإلا يحترز من النجاسة لحديث أبي موسى رضي الله عنه قال: إني كنت مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ذات يوم فأراد أن يبول فأتى دمثا (٦) في أصل جدار فبال ثم قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: (إذا أراد أحدكم أن يبول فليرتد لبوله موضعا)
