Question

Salaam. Whats the sunnat method of distributing
A) khajoor B) Kharek (dry dates) C) Chocolates?

All this, both girls and boys side used to do. Jzk

Answer

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

Dates after a Nikaah is established in the hadith.

Consider the following hadith:

Translation: Narrated by Aisha (Radiyallahau Anha): Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) married some of his wives and dates were scattered (presented) before him.

It is also permissible to distribute chocolates, sweets or mithai (sweetmeats) instead of dates. However, one should ensure the sanctity of the masjid is not violated. Therefore, it is advisable to distribute in the Sehn area or outside the masjid.[i]
