Question

Is a son in law allowed to go into the grave to lower the janaza of his mother inlaw..please let me know

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, it is most appropriate that the mahram of the deceased female lowers the body into the grave. If a mahram is not present, a non-mahram relative of the female can lower her into the grave.[i]

It is permissible for the son in law to lower his mother in law into the grave as he is her mahram.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best.
