Question

Can I do itikhaff at home during this lockdown period of mosques?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, Itikaf for males is only valid in a Masjid.[1]

In the enquired situation, a male cannot perform Itikaf at home. However, in the current situation menfolk are advised to sit in seclusion and engage in Ibadah.

(قوله أديت فيه الخمس أو لا) صرح بهذا الإطلاق في العناية وكذا في النهر وعزاه الشيخ إسماعيل إلى الفيض والبزازية وخزانة الفتاوى والخلاصة وغيرها، ويفهم أيضا وإن لم يصرح به من تعقيبه بالقول الثاني هنا تبعا للهداية فافهم
