Is a females itikaaf at home regarded as Sunnah or Nafl I'tikaaf?

Question

If a lady sits for itikaaf at home, will it be called sunnat itikaaf or its nafl itikaaf? jazakallah

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If a lady sits fori’tikāf in the last 10 days or Ramādan (from sunset on the 20th of Ramadan until the crescent of ‘Eīd is sighted) with the niyyah of Sunnah I’tikāf, it will be regarded as a sunnah i’tikāf.

If she sits for i’tikāf at any other time, it will be regarded as nafl i’tikāf .[1]
