Right to perform Janazah Salaah
Question
Assalam alaykum warahmtullahi wabarakatuh
Does the wali have the right of performing jannazah salaah or the imam of the masajid, locality?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu 'alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The wali have more right to perform the Janazah Salaah. However, if the Imam of the area is superior to all those present by means of rectitude and piety, then it is better for the family of the deceased to request the Imam to perform the Janazah Salaah. The right of the Imam is not an obligatory right, it is Mustahab (preferred) right.[1]
