May I ask what the sources/references to the judgement about leading Muslimsthrough non-Islamic leadership?

The ruling is based on the principle of 'Ahwanul baliyyatayn'. (Al-Ashbah of ibn Nujaym)
And Allah Taãla Knows Best.
