Supplier Stipulating A Condition To Sell Goods At A Certain Price

· 11 Rajab 1443 AH1 min readEnglish

Question

If a supplier of goods supplies me goods at a certain price and tells me to sell it at his predetermined price, am I obligated to sell it at that price?

Answer

The transaction wherein your supplier sells you goods on condition that you sell them at the specific price is not in order due to it being a conditional sale which is not permissible in Shar’iah. The correct method would be that he sells the goods without any condition and thereafter, you sell them with the profit margin you wish. Another alternative is that he tells you to sell the goods for him in return of a fixed percentage of the selling price or a fixed amount as your salary.
