What is the ruling concerning Qunoot-e-Naazilah?
Published as Qunoot-e-Naazilah
Question
What is the ruling concerning Qunoot-e-Naazilah? In which Salaah should it be read and when in the Salaah is it read?
Answer
According to the Hanafi jurists Qunoot-e-Naazilah may be recited at a time when the Muslims are facing severe difficulties and hardship. After raising the head from Ruku in the second Rakaat of the Fajr Salaah, one may recite the Qunoot. Below, we have quoted references from the Kitaabs of Fiqh which explicitly state that Qunoot should be recited in the Fajr Salaah only and for a maximum period of 30 days. The Qunoot should not be recited in the remaining Salaah.
