Question

My cousin recently moved to Canada from India. He has found a part time job in a SUB takeway. His job includes food preparation, receiving stock of the meat and pork. The problem is the subs include non-halaal chicken/beef and also pork. Is it permissible for him to work in such a restaurant where he is directly involved in preparing the subs? Will his income be Halaal?

Answer

It will not be permissible for a Muslim to work in a place where pork and Haraam meat is prepared and served. Hence, working at the SUB takeaway will not be permissible. He should therefore find an alternative job which is Halaal. [Re: Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah Pg.121 Vol.17 Farooqiyyah print]
