Nabi Isa Alaihis Salaam

Question

In an Aqaaid exam paper, the Grade 6 learners were to write 5 points on The Descension of Nabi Isa Alaihis Salaam.

One of the points that a student wrote is:

“He will tell the Christians that he is not God and he is a prophet of Allah.”

We understand that Nabi Isa Alaihis Salaam will not return as a prophet, but rather as a follower of the teachings of Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Based on this, would the student’s answer be correct?

Answer

In principle, the student’s answer is correct since Isa Alaihis Salaam is a Nabi of Allah Ta’ala. However, when he descends, he will not come down as a Nabi, but instead as a follower of Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

The student should therefore be advised that Isa Alaihis Salaam will not descend as a Nabi, rather as a follower of Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, but there is no dispute in him being a Nabi of Allah Ta’ala. In conclusion, the answer is correct.
