Using A Shaving Machine For Halq

Question

I performed Tammatu Hajj and performed Halq to come out of Ihraam after Umrah, before Hajj. On completion of Hajj, I used a shaving machine to remove the hair completely to come out of Ihraam (my hair was about 1/2cm long and I removed it all with a machine). Was this sufficient to remove Ihraam or is Damm necessary? (N.B. it did equate to more than a finger tip length of hair altogether.)

Answer

The use of a shaving machine on zero fulfils Halq. However, when one’s hair is short, the minimum required amount of hair to be cut in Taqseer, which is more than the length of a fingertip, may not be fulfilled. If after shaving with the machine, you are confident that all the remaining hair on your head was removed, your Hajj is concluded without penalty. If the hair is so short that a machine cannot trim it, then a blade should be used.

قَوْلُهُ وَيَكْتَفِي فِي الْحَلْقِ بِرُبْعِ الرَّأْسِ اعْتِبَارًا بِالْمَسْحِ وَحَلْقُ الْكُلِّ أَوْلَى اقْتِدَاءً بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ الْكَرْمَانِيُّ: فَإِنْ حَلَقَ أَوْ قَصَّرَ أَقَلَّ مِنْ النِّصْفِ أَجْزَأَ وَهُوَ مُسِيءٌ

اگر مشین ایسی ہے کہ چھوٹے سے چھوٹا بال بھی کاٹ دیتی ہے تو اب کسی تدارک کی ضرورت نہیں، سب عمرے درست ہو گئے، البتہ ایسی حالت میں (جب کہ بال بہت چھوٹے ہوں اور مشین میں نہ آتے ہوں) احتیاط یہ ہے کہ استرہ پھیر دیا کریں ۔

حلق کا مقصد بالوں کو جڑ سے صاف کرنا ہے اور زیرو مشین میں یہ مقصد پورا ہو جاتا ہے لہٰذا زیرو نمبر مشین سے بالوں کی صفائی حلق کے قائم مقام ہو جائے گی اور محرم اپنے احرام سے نکل جائے گا ۔ لیکن اگر بال بہت چھوٹے ہوں اور مشین میں نہ آتے ہوں تو پھر استرہ استعمال کرنا چاہیے
