Question

I am a mother and my daughter will be going for Umrah with my son-law. My mother and I want to go for Umrah with them too. Can my son-in-law be a Mahram for my mother and me?

Answer

A.Your son-in-law is considered a Mahram (non-stranger) to you and your mother. Hence, you and your mother may travel for Umrah with your son-in-law as your Mahram. (Majmaul-Anhur 1/323)

Who are a woman's mahrams?

“This is not permissible. If the woman is not your mahram, then this is obviously haraam and if the woman is your mahram e.g. your mother or sister then too this is not permissible and is against the Islamic teachings.”
