Is Salaah valid when performed out of time when one is unsure of the time?
Question
If a person made an intention to perform the Fajr Salaah in its time and was not sure if there was still time to perform the Fajr Salaah and later checked that the Fajr time ended at 5:30 AM and he performed it at 5:50 AM, does the Fajr Salaah have to be repeated?
Answer
In the enquired situation, if you were unsure whether the Fajr time of Salaah had expired or not and you made an intention to perform the Fajr Salaah in its time (Adaa’) whereas the time for performing the Fajr Salaah had expired (Qadha’), the Salaah performed will be valid. The Salaah does not have to be repeated. (Al-Muheet-Ul-Burhaani 1/146)

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
