Question

What does Saahib-ut-Tarteeb mean?

Answer

A ‘Saahib-ut-Tarteeb’ refers to a person who has missed less than 6 Salaah. The ruling for such a person is that it is compulsory to make Qadha of any missed Salaah before performing the current Fardh Salaah. They may not perform the current Fardh Salaah until they make Qadha of all missed Salaah.

If however, a person forgets to make Qadha of the missed Salaah and performs the current Fardh Salaah, the Salaah performed will be valid.

Additionally, if the Salaah time is about to lapse and the current Fardh Salaah will be missed if one engages in Qadha then one may perform the current Fardh Salaah and perform the Qadha Salaah thereafter. (Al-Bahrur-Raaiq 2/86)
