Question
Is Qurbani necessary for a child, and, if so, can their parents perform it on their behalf?
Answer
Qurbani is not necessary upon a child whether they are wealthy or not, nor is it necessary upon their parents/guardians to perform it on their behalf. However, if it is done on their behalf, the Qurbani will be valid, and they will receive the reward for it.
Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
