Can the Qurbani meat or skin be sold? (2/2)
Question
A certain brother sells sheep on the days of Qurbani and also offers the services of slaughtering and slicing. The buyers give him the skin of the animals. Can he sell these skins as he is not the original owner since it was given to him?
Answer
It is not permissible for the person who has performed Qurbani to sell any part of his Qurbani, like the meat or the skin, as an Ibaadat has been fulfilled through this animal.
However, if he gives the Qurbani meat or skin to another person as a gift, thereby making him the owner of it, it will be permissible for that person to sell it.
Hence, in the enquired case, it would be permissible for the person to whom the skins were gifted to sell the skins if he wishes to do so.
It must be noted that the skins cannot be given to the person in lieu of any service rendered. It must be a separate gift without affecting the price of the services offered. [Hindiyyah 5:301]
