Inshā’Allāh Mufti is well ..Is it permissible to go for a “taleem and tea”.People have it a few days before getting married

Answer

Respected Brother

Our response to your query is as follows:

It is always meritorious to feed guests at one`s home. However, if you are referring to the weekly ladies Taleem that is held under the guidance of the effort of Dawat and Tableegh, then the seniors of this effort have given guidelines for the protection of this noble effort that any food should not be served after the weekly ladies Taleem.

The mere fact that people have these gatherings few days before getting married indicate that it is a custom that is creeping into our society. Nikaah is a Sunnah and should be kept as simple as possible. In this is the most amount of Barakah. Thus, we advise that this customary practice should be omitted and those that organise such gatherings should be compassionately advised with wisdom and tact to abstain from such.
