Question

How should the mayyit be laid during ghusl

Answer

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Muḥtaram Mawlānā,

There are three views within the Ḥanafī school of thought regarding this matter.

During ghusl the deceased should be laid:

- With the legs facing Qiblah.

- On right shoulder facing Qiblah.

- Whatever is the easiest.

The relied upon view is the third.

Accordingly, the deceased should be placed in whichever direction it is easy to give the ghusl.

And Allāh Taʿālā knows best.
