Is it permissible for me to go for laser eye surgery?

Question

Assalamualaikum Mufti. Is it permissible for me to go for laser eye surgery?

Answer

As salām ʿalaikum wa raḥmatullāhī wa barakātuhū

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Having weak eyesight is considered a defect. Corrective surgery in order to remove a defect is permissible. Accordingly, it will be permissible to undergo corrective laser eye surgery.

And Allāh Taʿālā knows best.
