Using wigs, hair extensions or hair implants

Question

Is it permissible for one to use wigs or hair extensions which are made from either synthetic hair or hair of human beings? Similarly, is it permissible for one to do implants with one's own hair or the hair of another human being?

Answer

Wearing a wig or hair extension is permissible provided the hair is synthetic (it is not made from human hair). As far as human hair is concerned, then it is neither permissible for one to use one's own hair nor the hair of any human being as implants or as a wig.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

ووصل الشعر بشعر الآدمي حرام سواء كان شعرها أو شعر غيرها لقوله صلى الله عليه وسلم: لعن الله الواصلة والمستوصلة والواشمة والمستوشمة والواشرة والمستوشرة والنامصة والمتنمصة النامصة التي تنتف الشعر من الوجه والمتنمصة التي يفعل بها ذلك

قال الشامي: قوله ( سواء كان شعرها أو شعر غيرها ) لما فيه من التزوير كما يظهر مما يأتي وفي شعر غيرها انتفاع بجزء الآدمي أيضا لكن في التاترخانية وإذا وصلت المرأة شعر غيرها بشعرها فهو مكروه وإنما الرخصة في غير شعر بني آدم تتخذه المرأة لتزيد في قرونها وهو مروي عن أبي يوسف وفي الخانية ولا بأس للمرأة أن تجعل في قرونها وذوائبها شيئا من الوبر قوله ( لعن الله الواصلة إلخ ) الواصلة التي تصل الشعر بشعر الغير والتي يوصل شعرها بشعر آخر زورا والمستوصلة التي يوصل لها ذلك بطلبها (رد المحتار 6/373)
