Question

Is there any basis for meeting family members before leaving for hajj?

Answer

Yes, this is mentioned by the Fuqahaa to be among the aadaab (etiquettes) of one leaving for hajj.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

ثم يودع أهله وعياله وسائر من حضر ويقول أستودع الله دينكم ودنياكم وخواتيم أعمالكم ويقول له أهله عند التوديع سر في حفظ الله وكنفه زودك الله التقوى وجنبك الخبائث والردى وغفر ذنبك ووجهك للخير أينما كنت وتوجهت (مجمع الأنهر 1/314-315)

ويودع أهله وإخوانه ويستحلهم ويطلب دعاءهم ويأتيهم لذلك وهم يأتونه إذا قدم (فتح القدير 2/407)
