Forgetting what one learns

Question

What causes forgetfulness after learning knowledge, when either reading a book, or listening to a lecture?

Answer

One of the main causes is not applying what you have learnt.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

مَن عَمِلَ صـلِحًا مِن ذَكَرٍ أَو أُنثى وَهُوَ مُؤمِنٌ فَلَنُحيِيَنَّهُ حَيوةً طَيِّبَةً ۖ وَلَنَجزِيَنَّهُم أَجرَهُم بِأَحسَنِ ما كانوا يَعمَلونَ ﴿النحل: ٩٧﴾

عن أبي هريرة أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال كل أمتي يدخلون الجنة إلا من أبى قالوا يا رسول الله ومن يأبى قال من أطاعني دخل الجنة ومن عصاني فقد أبى (صحيح البخاري رقم 7280)
