Aqeeqah and shaving the baby's hair

Question

I did aqeeqa for my daughter. I first slaughter the goat and then shaved baby hair. I am reading that hair should be shaved first and then slaughering be done. please advise.

Answer

Both ways are correct.

And Allah Ta'ala knows best.

وعن الحسن عن سمرة قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : " الغلام مرتهن بعقيقته تذبح عنه يوم السابع ويسمى ويحلق رأسه " . رواه أحمد والترمذي وأبو داود والنسائي لكن في روايتهما " رهينة " بدل " مرتهن " وفي رواية لأحمد وأبي داود : " ويدمى " مكان : " ويسمى " وقال أبو داود : " ويسمى " أصح (مشكاة #4153)
