Reciting Qur'an from transliteration

· 21 Rajab 1438 AH1 min readEnglish

Question

Is it permissible to memorise surahs by reading their English transliteration if I can't find someone who can teach me how to read arabic?

Answer

It is not permissible to recite the Quran in any other language besides Arabic. Hence, you should refrain from reciting the Quran from the English transliteration. If you cannot get anyone to teach you, then you may purchase CDs of Qaaris and listen to their recitation.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
