Advising someone who has an eating disorder

Question

I know someone who has an eating disorder; when advised to eat by her parents she refuses and advises that she is putting on 'too much weight'. Is there a ruling in Islam regarding this to explain to her that what she is doing is wrong?

Answer

Losing weight as per one's own discretion can have detrimental effects. This should be done together with the consultation of a reliable experienced physician. They will guide her how to balance and moderate her eating habits.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
