Refusing to accept exchanges and refunds on sale items
Question
Is it permissible for a shop to put up a sign saying “no exchange/refunds on sale items”? The sale items are not defective. They are merely marked down to promote them and make them sell quicker. Is such a condition valid?
Answer
Yes, it is permissible. However, though it is not an obligation, it is rewarding and in the spirit of a good Muslim businessman to refund the customer if he is unhappy with the sale.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
