Circumcision for women
Question
Could you please provide references from the Quran Sharif and Hadith on whether circumcision of women is compulsory in Islam or not? I have heard that it can be harmful and dangerous for women and can even cause death, if not done correctly.
Answer
It is not compulsory, however it is desirable. Refer to Sunan Abu Dawood.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
