Colouring and decorating one's sheep for qurbaani

Question

My family has a “tradition” of colouring our sheep each year, usually with food colouring to make it look bright and colourful. Our intention is to beautify and decorate it as it’s for Allah, and it’s also a way to get closer to and form a bond with the sheep as we touch it and hold it etc. Is there any harm to this?

Answer

It is alright. However, don't consider it to be a deeni act that is mustahab or sunnat.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
