Question

I would like to know if it is permissible to take sports as a career as common nowadays?

Answer

Earning one's income through playing for a team is impermissible. Apart from the contract being Islamically invalid, there are many other wrongs that are associated with these sports e.g. intermingling of women and men at the time of the match, the clothing being un-Islamic which reveals portion of the satar, the sport being televised, at times the match is sponsored by a beer company and thus one will have to wear clothing with their logo on and a host of other impermissible things which go against one's Deeni principles. And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
