Verbally revoking a divorce

· 9 Muharram 1441 AH1 min readEnglish

Question

Is intercourse necessary for revoking divorce after one talaaq or if only true intention for keeping one's wife even if saying it verbally counts? As wife was away and could not come back due to limited number of flights during three menstrual cycles.

Answer

A verbal retraction is sufficient. A verbal retraction means that you inform her that you have revoked the talaaq. Only making an intention in the heart is not considered as rujoo.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
