Adopting a child that the mother wants to abort

Question

1. My sister in law (wife sister) is in the 7th month of pregnancy. Her husband has divorced her. She wants to abort the child. Is this permissible or not?

2. Can I adopt the child?

Answer

1. It is haraam for her to abort the child. This is murder. How can she ever think of murdering her own child.

2. The child will still belong to the parents. You can foster the child understanding that the child belongs to the biological parents. You have no rights over the child.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
