Accepting lillah if a person has savings
Question
May someone who has savings amounting to about 400k accept lillah and if so, will they be sinful for doing so? The person is a widow with a 16 year old son who is not working.
Answer
It is better that they notify the person that they have so much and if he still insists on giving a gift then it is alright.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

What is the difference between lillah, sadaqah and zakaat?
“If you intend to give Nafl Sadaqah (optional charity), you may give it to anyone. However, if it is Zakat, then it must be given only to those who are eligible to receive it.”
