Woman's ankle being her aurah

Question

Is it true that if woman’s ankles are shown to non-mahrams, it gives a sin of zina.

Answer

The ankle is part of her aurah, and to reveal the private area is a major sin, moreover when it is done deliberately.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
