Question

My wife cheated on me and stole money and gold. Do I need to pay her haq mehr if I decides to divorce her. Please be noted that cheating and stolen things she confess to already.

Answer

If the amount she stole was equal to the mahr or more, then you can tell her that you will deduct the amount she owes you from her mahr. However, if the mahr was more than the amount she stole from you, then you will have to pay her the extra amount which you owe her as part of her mahr.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
