How to spend the night instead of watching movies or shows

· 19 Rabiʻ I 1445 AH1 min readEnglish

Question

Majority of the Ummah engages in watching TV, be it movies or shows or sports, at night. Kindly advise as to how this can be eradicated and what are substitutions that individuals and/or families can engage in at night.

Answer

Since you are in agreement that this is impermissible, at least start off at this point that you discourage people who are close to you or those who come under your influence to leave it out. Those who want to look for a substitute can find many things as substitutes. They can find kitaabs, they may engage in ibaadat, or do something that is going to be beneficial to them or people in general.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
