Pausing after the first aayat of Surah Kahf

Question

Should we stop without taking a breath, and then continue recitation with the same breath at the end of the first Aayah of Suratul Kahf?

Answer

There are two opinions. One is allowing the breaking of the breath as per the method of Imaam Jazari (rahimahullah) and the other is that the pause is compulsory without breaking the breath as per the method of Imaam Shaatibi (rahimahullah).

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
