Is it sinful for a man not to take more than one wife?
Question
Is it ok if I don’t want to get involved in polygamy because of love for my wife? Someone said that it is sinful and exaggerating, is it true? Someone said this this statement and it disturbs me. I don’t think it’s sinful because it’s not obligatory and it’s totally a man's choice. Please guide me.
Answer
This statement is wrong. There were pious elders who just had one wife.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
