Question

Many women say that they only wet the scalp of the hair after relations due to the hadeeth of Sayyidah Ayesha (radhiyallahu anha). Is this correct?

Answer

The hadith explains that a woman who has plaited hair, then when making ghusal for janaabat it will not be compulsory upon her to open her plaits and wash all her hair. Rather, it is permissible for her to wash her entire head in a manner that water reaches the roots of her hair.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
