Killing someone to defend one's life and property

· 14 Jumada I 1446 AH1 min readEnglish

Question

Is it permissible or obligatory to kill a person that comes to attack you for your wealth or any of your possessions and you try to protect your wealth?

What is the preferred option?

Answer

Both are permissible. It is permissible for a person in such a situation to fight and defend his life and property or not to fight. If he fights and defends his life and property and is killed, he will die as a shaheed, and if he does not fight and is killed, he will also die as a shaheed.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
